Lead exceptional outcomes for students with fluency and voice disorders through specialized speech therapy in our cutting-edge virtual education platform. We're seeking an accomplished speech language pathologist with expertise in stuttering intervention and voice therapy who excels at teletherapy delivery.

Role Structure

Deliver specialized speech therapy services for a caseload of 42-50 students weekly, maintaining 36.5 hours in our virtual education environment. Your clinical expertise will serve students across all grade levels with fluency disorders, voice disorders, and related communication challenges through engaging and effective teletherapy interventions.

Fluency Disorder Specialization

  • Conduct comprehensive fluency assessments measuring stuttering frequency and severity
  • Administer tools including SSI-4, OASES, and fluency attitude measures
  • Implement stuttering modification therapy teaching cancellations and pull-outs
  • Provide fluency shaping techniques including easy onset and light articulatory contacts
  • Deliver cognitive-behavioral therapy addressing stuttering-related anxiety
  • Support students with cluttering through rate control and self-monitoring strategies
  • Address secondary behaviors and tension associated with stuttering

Voice Disorder Intervention

  • Assess vocal quality, pitch, loudness, and resonance characteristics
  • Provide vocal hygiene education addressing phonotraumatic behaviors
  • Implement resonant voice therapy and vocal function exercises
  • Address muscle tension dysphonia through relaxation and voice techniques
  • Support students with vocal nodules through voice therapy protocols
  • Provide therapy for paradoxical vocal fold motion and related disorders
  • Coordinate with ENT specialists for medical management and therapy integration

Counseling and Support

  • Provide counseling addressing emotional aspects of fluency disorders
  • Support students with communication confidence and self-advocacy
  • Address bullying and teasing related to communication differences
  • Facilitate support groups for students who stutter
  • Implement desensitization activities reducing stuttering stigma
  • Build resilience and positive communication attitudes
  • Support parents in understanding and responding to fluency disorders

Evidence-Based Practice

  • Implement research-supported stuttering intervention approaches
  • Utilize Lidcombe Program for early childhood stuttering
  • Apply Camperdown Program for adolescent stuttering management
  • Incorporate mindfulness techniques in stuttering therapy
  • Use voluntary stuttering and disclosure activities
  • Implement acceptance and commitment therapy principles
  • Monitor treatment outcomes through systematic data collection

Professional Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Current Michigan Speech-Language Pathology license
  • 2+ years of school-based speech therapy experience
  • Specialized training or experience with fluency disorders preferred
  • Knowledge of voice disorders and therapy approaches
  • Proficiency with teletherapy technology and virtual engagement techniques
  • Strong counseling skills for addressing emotional aspects of disorders

Specialized Clinical Skills

  • Expertise in fluency assessment and differential diagnosis
  • Knowledge of stuttering modification and fluency shaping approaches
  • Understanding of neurogenic and psychogenic fluency disorders
  • Familiarity with voice assessment including acoustic analysis
  • Experience with resonance disorders and therapy techniques
  • Ability to adapt fluency and voice therapy for virtual delivery
  • Commitment to specialized continuing education in fluency and voice
