We're seeking a speech language pathologist who specializes in elementary-age students and excels at creating engaging, developmentally appropriate therapy experiences in online learning environments.

Position Overview

Provide speech therapy services for approximately 44-54 students in grades K-5, working 35.5 hours weekly in our virtual elementary program. Your expertise will help young students develop essential communication skills through playful, interactive therapy sessions addressing articulation, language development, and early social communication.

Elementary Therapy Specialization

  • Conduct age-appropriate speech-language assessments for elementary students
  • Design therapy activities matching developmental levels and learning styles
  • Implement phonological awareness activities supporting early literacy development
  • Target basic vocabulary and concept development through thematic units
  • Build simple to complex sentence formulation skills
  • Address following directions from one-step to multi-step sequences
  • Support question comprehension and answering across WH-question types

Developmental Language Support

  • Provide early grammar intervention targeting morphological development
  • Implement narrative language activities building story retelling skills
  • Address categorization, associations, and semantic relationships
  • Support describing and defining vocabulary for classroom success
  • Target problem-solving and reasoning language skills
  • Develop conversational turn-taking and topic maintenance abilities
  • Integrate language skills with math, science, and social studies content

Virtual Engagement Strategies

  • Utilize digital games, songs, and interactive activities maintaining student attention
  • Incorporate movement and multisensory approaches in virtual sessions
  • Use visual supports including pictures, videos, and graphic organizers
  • Implement token systems and positive reinforcement for motivation
  • Create virtual scavenger hunts and theme-based learning activities
  • Facilitate peer interaction opportunities in small group sessions
  • Adapt traditional play-based therapy for online effectiveness

Family Partnership

  • Communicate regularly with parents about therapy goals and student progress
  • Provide parent-friendly home practice activities and resources
  • Demonstrate therapy techniques parents can use during daily routines
  • Address parent questions about speech-language development
  • Celebrate student achievements and growth with families
  • Offer guidance on supporting communication at home
  • Build collaborative relationships with elementary families

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Current Pennsylvania Speech-Language Pathology license
  • 2+ years of experience with elementary-age students
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood and elementary language development
  • Experience engaging young learners through virtual platforms
  • Patience and enthusiasm working with K-5 populations
  • Creative approach to adapting therapy for online delivery

Elementary Expertise

  • Understanding of elementary curriculum and academic language demands
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones in speech and language
  • Skills in selecting age-appropriate therapy materials and activities
  • Ability to maintain young students' attention in virtual sessions
  • Experience with phonological awareness and early literacy connections
  • Warm, encouraging demeanor engaging elementary learners
  • Flexibility adapting to varying attention spans and learning styles
