Join our remote education initiative as a Speech Language Pathologist, delivering comprehensive communication therapy services to students with diverse speech and language needs through innovative virtual platforms. This position combines clinical expertise with educational collaboration, allowing you to provide essential therapy services while maintaining the flexibility and convenience of home-based practice.
Position Summary Provide speech and language services 35-37.5 hours per week to a caseload of 52-60 students across elementary, middle, and high school levels in virtual educational environments. You'll conduct evaluations, deliver therapeutic interventions, and work closely with educational teams to address communication barriers and promote student academic success. Our speech language pathologists serve as vital advocates for effective communication and educational equity.
Direct Service Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive speech and language evaluations for special education eligibility determination
- Deliver evidence-based individual and group therapy interventions through secure video platforms
- Implement augmentative and alternative communication systems for students with complex communication needs
- Provide consultation services to teachers regarding communication accommodations and modifications
- Collaborate with families to develop home communication programs and carryover activities
- Support students with communication needs during academic instruction and social interactions
- Maintain detailed therapy documentation and ensure compliance with all professional and ethical standards
Therapeutic Intervention Areas
- Articulation therapy using traditional and motor-based intervention approaches
- Language intervention addressing semantic, syntactic, and pragmatic language skills
- Fluency therapy incorporating behavioral and cognitive approaches for stuttering management
- Voice therapy focusing on vocal hygiene education and voice production techniques
- Social communication intervention for students with autism spectrum disorders and related conditions
- Literacy support targeting phonological awareness, decoding, and reading comprehension skills
- Cognitive-communication therapy for students with attention, memory, and executive functioning challenges
Required Credentials
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from regionally accredited institution
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) in good standing
- Active Michigan speech-language pathology license or ability to obtain state certification
- 2+ years of professional experience providing speech therapy services in school environments
- Competence in virtual service delivery and understanding of teletherapy best practices
- Strong knowledge of communication disorders and evidence-based intervention approaches

- Experience with feeding and swallowing evaluation and intervention
- Training in assistive technology assessment and augmentative communication systems
- Knowledge of cultural and linguistic diversity and bilingual language development
- Experience serving students with developmental disabilities and multiple impairments
- Background in classroom-based therapy models and curriculum integration approaches
