We're seeking a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive communication therapy services for students in virtual learning environments. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while delivering critical speech and language interventions that help students develop effective communication skills and achieve academic success.
Role Description Serve 45-58 students across multiple grade levels through virtual platforms, working 35-37.5 hours per week to provide specialized speech and language services. You'll conduct evaluations, deliver therapeutic interventions, and work collaboratively with educational teams to support student communication development and curriculum access. Our speech language pathologists play a vital role in removing communication barriers to learning.
Key Service Areas
- Comprehensive speech and language assessments using standardized and informal evaluation tools
- Individual therapy sessions targeting specific communication goals and objectives
- Small group therapy focusing on social communication and pragmatic language skills
- Consultation services for teachers regarding classroom communication supports and modifications
- Parent training and home program development to reinforce therapy goals
- Assistive technology evaluation and training for students requiring communication devices
- Collaboration with related service providers including occupational therapists and physical therapists
Specialized Treatment Services
- Childhood apraxia of speech intervention using motor-based therapy approaches
- Language processing disorder therapy focusing on auditory comprehension and expression
- Pragmatic language intervention for students with social communication challenges
- Literacy support addressing phonological awareness and reading comprehension skills
- Executive functioning support for students with attention and organizational difficulties
- Accent modification services for English language learners
- Post-secondary transition communication skill development
Essential Requirements
- Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology
- Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) in good standing
- Active Michigan speech-language pathology license or eligibility for state certification
- 2+ years of professional experience in school-based speech-language pathology practice
- Competency in virtual service delivery and understanding of teletherapy regulations
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Experience with assistive technology and augmentative communication systems
- Training in feeding and swallowing evaluation and intervention techniques
- Knowledge of second language acquisition and working with bilingual students
- Experience serving students with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with response to intervention (RTI) models and classroom-based therapy approaches
