Speech Language Pathologist - Virtual Therapy Services - Flint, MI
Join our specialized remote education team as a Speech Language Pathologist, providing comprehensive communication therapy services to students across all grade levels in virtual learning environments. Position Overview This full-time remote role involves working 35-37.5 hours per week serving a caseload of 50-60 students from elementary through high school levels. You'll deliver individual and group therapy sessions, conduct evaluations, and collaborate with educational teams to address diverse communication disorders and support academic achievement. Our speech language pathologists are essential team members in creating inclusive learning environments that promote effective communication skills.
Core Professional Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for special education eligibility and programming decisions
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions addressing articulation, language, fluency, and voice disorders
- Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals and monitor student progress toward objectives
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to support communication development
- Create and adapt therapy materials for virtual service delivery and home practice programs
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to educational planning processes
- Document therapy sessions and maintain detailed progress records for compliance and billing purposes
Student Support Services
- Articulation and phonological disorder intervention using evidence-based approaches
- Language development therapy focusing on vocabulary, grammar, and narrative skills
- Fluency therapy for students with stuttering and other disfluency disorders
- Voice therapy addressing vocal quality, pitch, and resonance concerns
- Social communication skill development for students with autism spectrum disorders
- Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) assessment and training
- Feeding and swallowing therapy for students with oral-motor difficulties
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA-accredited program
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) or eligibility for certification
- Active Michigan speech-language pathology license or ability to obtain state licensure
- Minimum 2 years of experience providing speech therapy services in school settings
- Proficiency with virtual therapy platforms and teletherapy best practices
- Strong knowledge of child development and communication disorders across age ranges
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with diverse populations and multicultural assessment practices
- Training in augmentative and alternative communication systems and devices
- Knowledge of feeding and swallowing disorders and oral-motor therapy techniques
- Experience with students who have multiple disabilities and complex communication needs
- Bilingual capabilities to serve multicultural student populations
