School Speech Language Pathologist - Newtown, Connecticut
An opportunity is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to serve students in grades 5 and 6 at a contracted school setting in Newtown, CT. This role involves providing both direct and consultative speech therapy services, with a focus on communication, articulation, and pragmatic language. The expected start date is approximately April 20, 2026, continuing through June 15, 2027, working 32.5 hours weekly (6.5 hours per day).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized speech-language IEP services tailored to students’ needs.
- Conduct initial and re-evaluations regarding communication abilities.
- Support students with diverse disabilities including autism, learning disabilities, dyslexia, various health impairments (including ADD/ADHD), multiple disabilities, and emotional disability.
- Collaborate with educators and other specialists to optimize student outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathologist certification (SLP), with credentials such as SLP-CCC or SLP-CFY preferred.
- Experience working within a school environment.
- Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 35-40 students effectively.
- Strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and family communication.
- Passion for supporting children with a range of communication disorders and disabilities.
