Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist in Newark, NJ
A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is needed for a contract role in Newark, NJ, providing specialized support within a school setting. This position involves working with a single 16-year-old student requiring focused intervention one day per week. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact on the student’s communication abilities.
The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology and have experience in both pediatric and school-based settings. This role requires expertise in utilizing a combination of verbal and augmentative communication strategies to promote and enhance functional communication skills tailored to the student’s individual needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathology license with CCC certification
- Experience working in educational environments and with pediatric populations
- Proven ability to support students using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods
- Strong skills in developing and implementing individualized therapy plans
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with educators and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized speech-language therapy sessions focused on enhancing communication
- Utilize a range of verbal and augmentative techniques to support the student’s functional communication
- Monitor progress and adjust treatment strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure continuity of care
