School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist - New Britain, Connecticut
A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available at an elementary school in New Britain, CT. This contract role runs from December through March, with an option to extend, offering a consistent 40-hour workweek during school hours (8:20 AM to 3:40 PM). The position requires in-person engagement to directly support students’ communication and language development within a dynamic educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough speech, language, and communication evaluations using standardized and informal assessment tools.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to determine eligibility for special education services under IDEA.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals tailored to student needs.
- Deliver both individual and group therapy focusing on articulation, language skills, pragmatic communication, fluency, voice, and AAC methods.
- Maintain accurate documentation including service logs, progress reports, and evaluation summaries.
- Collaborate with educational staff and families to provide effective communication strategies and support.
- Participate in early intervention activities, including Birth-to-3 transitions and PK/K screenings.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and CSDE regulations while attending IEP meetings and annual reviews.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to maintain licensure and certification requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required.
- Active Connecticut Department of Public Health SLP license and CSDE educator certification (Endorsement #061).
- Strong knowledge of language development, AAC, and school-based speech therapy practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to maintaining up-to-date professional standards and regulations.
