A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) professional is needed for a contract position starting ASAP through the end of the school year at a public school district located in Mesilla Park, New Mexico. The primary assignment is at an elementary school with a caseload of approximately 60 students, including support for three Structured Communication Classrooms (SCCs).
This role requires a New Mexico state license and the ability to obtain or hold a Public Education Department (PED) certificate through the New Mexico Department of Education by the start date. Candidates already licensed in New Mexico may work while their PED certification is pending. Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required, as the current team includes bilingual SLPs who offer a welcoming and supportive environment.
Ideal candidates should have experience or a strong interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) as part of the caseload includes AAC students. The district is focused on current therapy and caseload needs, with no immediate concerns about compensatory services.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering speech-language therapy services to students
- Collaborating with other SLPs and educational staff
- Managing and documenting student progress
- Supporting students in structured communication classrooms
- Participating in district initiatives for speech and language development
Qualifications:
- Valid New Mexico state licensure as an SLP
- PED certification (or in process)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience or willingness to learn AAC techniques
- Commitment to student-centered therapy plans
Location and Community: This opportunity is based in beautiful southern New Mexico, close to El Paso, Texas (approximately 46 miles), making it accessible for candidates from both states.
