Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Mechanicsville, VA
A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist position is available to support preschool and elementary students within a K-12 school district near Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for licensed professionals with expertise in pediatric speech-language services, particularly those who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or are completing their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). The assignment is a contract for the current school year with the need to cover FMLA and maternity leave periods, providing an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in multiple school settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide speech-language evaluations, interventions, and progress monitoring primarily to preschool and elementary students.
- Manage caseload effectively within a caseload model while ensuring compliance with district and state guidelines.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support student success and participate in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Maintain accurate documentation and utilize the district’s IEP system with provided training.
- Travel itinerantly to assigned schools within the Henrico, Chesterfield, and Glen Allen areas, with paid travel time.
Qualifications:
- Virginia State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist is required.
- Clinical Fellowship Year candidates are welcomed; however, experience in pediatric SLP or a related school setting is preferred.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage a full-time caseload and address the supervisory requirements associated with school-based responsibilities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Location: Richmond, VA metro area—including Henrico, Chesterfield, and Glen Allen.
Schedule and Duration:
- Full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
- Start date: ASAP.
- End of school year contract.
- Responsible for covering leaves from mid-January through April.
