Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist in Los Angeles, CA

A K-12 school located in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with specialized skills in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to conduct a one-time evaluation. This contract position is ideal for a clinician familiar with Keyguard customization and skilled in assessing students with extensive communication needs.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct a comprehensive AAC evaluation for a moderate to severe student currently utilizing an AAC device.
- Assess device usage challenges, including frequent device breakdowns.
- Provide expert recommendations regarding the potential transition to a lower tech AAC device if appropriate.
- Clearly present findings and rationale to the school's team for consideration.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure understanding and support for recommended communication strategies.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist with experience in pediatric and school-based settings.
- Expertise in AAC assessment, particularly with Keyguard customization.
- Familiarity with both high-tech and low-tech AAC devices and their clinical applications.
- Knowledge of teletherapy and healthcare environments is a plus.
- Ability to communicate assessment results effectively to multidisciplinary teams.

Contract Details:
- Short-term contract for the current school year (CSY).
