A K-12 school located in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with specialized skills in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to conduct a one-time evaluation. This contract position is ideal for a clinician familiar with Keyguard customization and skilled in assessing students with extensive communication needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive AAC evaluation for a moderate to severe student currently utilizing an AAC device.
  • Assess device usage challenges, including frequent device breakdowns.
  • Provide expert recommendations regarding the potential transition to a lower tech AAC device if appropriate.
  • Clearly present findings and rationale to the school's team for consideration.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure understanding and support for recommended communication strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist with experience in pediatric and school-based settings.
  • Expertise in AAC assessment, particularly with Keyguard customization.
  • Familiarity with both high-tech and low-tech AAC devices and their clinical applications.
  • Knowledge of teletherapy and healthcare environments is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate assessment results effectively to multidisciplinary teams.

Location:

  • Position based in Los Angeles, CA, serving a K-12 educational environment.

Contract Details:

  • Short-term contract for the current school year (CSY).
  • One-time evaluation assignment.
