Are you a Speech-Language Pathologist looking for a meaningful summer role? We're hiring a part-time SLP to work with an amazing group of students in Leesburg, VA, all of whom are diagnosed with Autism.
Here's What You Need to Know:
- Hours: About 20 hours per week.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
- Start Date: June 1, 2025.
- Caseload: You'll be working with students aged 5-22, all on the Autism Spectrum. This means you'll have the opportunity to really specialize and make a difference!
What You'll Be Doing:
You'll be a key player in helping these students thrive. Your focus will be on enhancing their communication skills and functional participation. This often involves:
- Providing direct speech and language therapy (individually or in small groups).
- Working on functional communication skills, social pragmatic language, and helping students generalize their skills to different environments.
- Implementing and managing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and strategies.
- Collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support communication goals throughout the day.
- Monitoring student progress, collecting data, and adjusting your therapy approaches to best meet each student's needs.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records.
Who We're Looking For:
- Someone with a valid Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology license. This is a must-have!
- A Master's or doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- ASHA CCC-SLP certification is required.
- Demonstrated experience and a strong comfort level working with individuals (ages 5-22) who have Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Proficiency in assessing and implementing various communication strategies, including AAC.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Strong organizational skills to manage your caseload effectively.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to empowering students with ASD.
