Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team and provide comprehensive speech and language services to elementary school-aged students in the  varying levels of disabilities - primary focus is on early intervention ages though area. The ideal candidate will be committed to student growth, collaborate effectively with educators and parents, and contribute to a positive school community.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for elementary students to determine eligibility for services.
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with communication disorders, aligning with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students, individually and in small groups, addressing a variety of communication needs (e.g., articulation, phonology, language, fluency, voice, social communication).
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school personnel to support student success in the classroom and at home.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student services, progress, and communication.
  • Educate school staff and parents on communication development and strategies to support students.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program (e.g., a program accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Council on Academic Accreditation - ASHA CAA).
  • Valid Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology license (or eligibility for licensure in Virginia). This is the key state-level requirement for practicing SLPs in public schools in Virginia.
  • Note for Clinical Fellows (CFY): Candidates completing their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) are often encouraged to apply, provided they meet the academic requirements and are actively pursuing their Virginia license and ASHA CCC-SLP under supervision.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred. While the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology issues the required license, having the CCC-SLP demonstrates a higher level of professional standing and is widely recognized.
  • Experience working with school-aged children (preschool through high school, or specific age ranges as defined by the school setting) is highly preferred. This includes experience with a diverse range of communication disorders (e.g., articulation, phonology, language, fluency, voice, social communication, feeding/swallowing).
  • Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Virginia-specific special education regulations related to IEP development, implementation, and procedural safeguards.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations, including selecting and administering appropriate standardized and non-standardized assessment tools, interpreting results, and writing comprehensive evaluation reports.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), writing measurable goals and objectives, and progress monitoring.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to effectively interact with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other related service providers (e.g., occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage caseloads, schedules, documentation, and data collection efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Commitment to student-centered practice and a passion for supporting student success in communication and academic achievement.
  • (Optional, but often a plus for Loudoun County/Northern VA area): Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish-English) are often highly valued in diverse school districts.
