Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Job Duties

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student goals

  • Provide direct therapy services and monitor progress toward communication milestones

  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and other school staff to support student learning

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations

  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional recommendations for student support

Federal and State Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

  • Current Alabama SLP license required

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred

  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

  • Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Alabama school districts
