Travel Speech Therapist in Las Cruces, NM
A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) clinician is sought for a travel assignment in the Las Cruces, NM area, supporting a public school district. The ideal candidate will assist with therapy caseloads and provide comprehensive speech and language services at Jornada Elementary, with a focus on current therapy needs.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 60 students, including those in three Structured Communication Classrooms (SCCs).
- Provide speech-language therapy services aligned with individual education program (IEP) goals.
- Collaborate with two bilingual SLP colleagues who are supportive and work as a team.
- Engage with AAC devices and strategies if applicable; willingness to learn AAC is welcomed.
- Monitor and document student progress while focusing on ongoing therapy rather than compensatory services at this time.
Qualifications and experience:
- Must hold New Mexico state licensure prior to start date (licensure application must be already in process if not currently held).
- Certification from the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) is required; can be pending at start if licensure is secured.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology preferred but not mandatory.
- Bilingual candidates are highly desirable, although monolingual clinicians are also encouraged to apply due to existing bilingual staff.
- Experience or interest in AAC is a plus.
- Prior school-based SLP experience preferred.
Location and travel details:
- Assignment based in Las Cruces, a vibrant city in southern New Mexico.
- Proximity to El Paso, TX (approx. 46 miles) broadens candidate search.
- Possible consideration for candidates familiar with surrounding areas including Deming, Truth or Consequences, and regions near White Sands National Park.
