Speech Language Pathologist in Joliet, IL
This opportunity is for a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) serving students in K-12 settings across multiple locations within Illinois. The position focuses on providing specialized support to classrooms enrolled in Structured Learning Environment (SLE) programs designed for students with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities. The role is contracted through the current school year with a potential assignment duration lasting until late May 2025.
Locations include several schools in the region: Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, Addison Trail High School in Addison, Maercker Intermediate School in Westmont, and PrairieView Elementary School in Downers Grove. Each placement involves working with 3-4 self-contained classrooms, with each class comprising approximately 6-8 students requiring targeted speech-language services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized speech-language therapy to K-12 students with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities within the SLE program.
- Collaborate closely with educators and interdisciplinary teams to support student progress.
- Maintain accurate documentation and assessment records in compliance with state and district guidelines.
- Adapt therapy plans to meet the unique needs of each classroom and student population.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Speech Endorsement.
- Current Illinois Speech-Language Pathology licensure.
- Candidates at various certification levels are encouraged to apply, including fully licensed SLPs (CCC), Clinical Fellows (CFY), and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs).
- Experience working with school-aged children with special needs, particularly Autism and Intellectual Disabilities, is highly desirable.
Work Schedule and Duration:
- Full-time schedule ranging from 35 to 37.5 hours weekly.
- Contract duration runs from ASAP through approximately May 28, 2025, depending on assignment location.
