Speech Pathology - Decatur, AL
Providing speech-language services in an educational setting demands both expertise and adaptability. This full-time contract opportunity is based in Decatur, AL, offering a dynamic role within a school environment serving preK-8th grade students.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech-language pathology services to a caseload of approximately 58 students, with a focus on effective assessment, therapy, and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate closely with a fellow SLP to divide caseload duties, ensuring personalized and timely support for all students.
- Conduct assessments primarily on Fridays, with direct student therapy scheduled Monday through Thursday.
- Manage case documentation and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) efficiently, ideally within the PowerSchool system.
- Work with para-educators who assist by bringing students to therapy sessions, optimizing therapy time.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Valid and active Speech-Language Pathology license in Alabama.
- Previous experience providing school-based and virtual speech-language pathology services.
- Familiarity with Alabama education laws and regulations related to special education services preferred.
- Strong knowledge of case management and IEP development.
- Flexibility and ability to manage a caseload collaboratively with another therapist.
Location and Schedule:
- Position located in Decatur, Alabama, with work hours from Monday to Friday.
- The school day begins at 7:45 AM CST.
- Therapy sessions occur Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for assessments.
- Contract duration: January start through May 22, 2026.
