What to Expect in a School-Based SLP Role
As a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist, you’ll play a critical role in helping students improve their communication abilities and achieve their educational goals. Your responsibilities may include evaluating students with speech and language delays or disorders, developing and implementing therapy plans, collaborating with IEP teams, and working closely with teachers and families to support classroom success. You may serve students in individual or group settings, across various grade levels, and your work will directly contribute to improving academic performance, social interaction, and self-expression.
Education, Licensure, and Certification Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity in Louisiana, you must hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a current or pending Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (LBESPA) license. Applicants must also hold (or be in the process of obtaining) their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA, although many school districts will also consider Clinical Fellows (CFYs). Blazer Jobs will assist you through the licensure process and reimburse associated licensing costs once hired.
