Reports To: Director of Special Education / Site Administrator
Position Overview
A Northern California school district in Eureka (95501) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their special education team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality speech and language services to a diverse student population across elementary and secondary grade levels. The SLP will work collaboratively with educators, families, and related service providers to support student communication development and academic achievement.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver direct speech and language therapy to students with communication needs in both individual and group formats.

Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments using formal and informal evaluation tools.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) collaboratively with parents, teachers, and other IEP team members.

Participate actively in IEP meetings, Student Study Teams (SSTs), and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Maintain thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, progress notes, and related reports.

Consult with classroom teachers and parents regarding communication goals, strategies, and accommodations.

Provide training or professional development to school staff as needed related to speech and language development.

Supervise Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs), interns, or Clinical Fellows, when applicable, following regulatory guidelines.

Keep current with best practices, legal requirements, and advances in the field of school-based speech-language pathology.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field from an accredited program

Valid California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential or eligibility to obtain

ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred; Clinical Fellows welcome to apply with supervision provided

Valid California license from the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board or eligibility

Preferred experience in school-based or pediatric speech-language pathology settings

Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
-
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development processes, and special education law

Ability to manage caseload efficiently and maintain compliance with district and legal requirements
