Speech-Language Pathologist in Detroit, MI
A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available at an elementary school serving preschool and elementary students. This contract role spans the current school year, beginning January 16 and continuing through the last day of school in June 2026. The position focuses primarily on providing speech-language services in Early Childhood Special Education preschool classrooms and tuition-based settings, along with additional coverage for speech-only students at the elementary level.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments for preschool and elementary students
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's communication needs
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student progress
- Provide direct speech-language therapy services in both group and one-on-one settings
- Monitor and document student progress, reporting findings as needed
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to individualized education program (IEP) development
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with appropriate state licensure
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in Early Childhood Special Education environments
- Familiarity with speech-language intervention strategies for a diverse student population
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to engage with educators and families
- Ability to manage caseload and documentation requirements efficiently
