Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive speech and language services exclusively to early childhood-aged children (typically preschool through early elementary grades).

Conduct thorough evaluations, interpret assessment results, and write compliant reports for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique developmental needs of young children.

Develop and implement evidence-based therapy plans addressing a wide range of communication disorders common in early childhood (e.g., early language delays, articulation/phonological disorders, social communication deficits, fluency, voice).

Deliver direct and indirect therapy services in individual, small group, and classroom-based settings within early childhood programs.

Collaborate effectively with preschool and early elementary teachers, parents, early intervention specialists, and other school personnel to integrate communication goals into daily routines and play-based learning.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEPs, adhering to district and state guidelines.

Participate in IEP meetings, contributing valuable insights and recommendations for young students.

Adapt therapy activities and materials to suit the developmental stages and diverse needs of early childhood students.
Qualifications

Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Valid and active Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) License in the state of Michigan is REQUIRED.

Michigan Teaching Certificate is highly preferred, or willingness to obtain one as per Michigan Department of Education requirements for school-based SLPs.

Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred, but strong Clinical Fellows (CFYs) with a passion for early childhood will be considered and may be provided with supervision.

Prior experience working with preschool or other early childhood student populations in a school or clinic setting is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of early childhood development, the IEP process, special education law, and school-based service delivery models for young children.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

A genuine commitment to fostering early communication skills and empowering young students to reach their full potential.
