Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Job Duties

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in students

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals

  • Provide direct therapy and track progress toward communication objectives

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to support student communication needs

  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional input on language development

  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations

Federal and State Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

  • Current Illinois SLP license or eligibility for licensure required

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred

  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

  • Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Illinois school districts
