A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with an active Illinois license and Professional Educator License (PEL) is needed for a Special Education Co-op in Chicago Heights, IL. This in-person, travel position serves K-8 students with social/emotional disabilities who are fully verbal and independent.
Position Details:
- Location: Chicago Heights, IL (Travel position)
- Duration: ASAP through June 2, 2026
- Schedule: 35 hours per week, in-person only
- Student Population: K-8th grade students with social/emotional disabilities
- Caseload: Approximately 30 students
- Service Time: Typically 120 minutes per month or 30 minutes per week as indicated on each IEP
Qualifications:
- Must have an active Illinois SLP license (SLP-CCC preferred)
- Must hold a valid Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience working with K-8 students, specifically those with social/emotional disabilities
- Ability to deliver speech-language services as outlined in individual IEPs
Responsibilities:
- Provide speech-language therapy to students based on their IEP needs
- Manage a caseload of about 30 students, ensuring services are delivered for approximately 120 minutes monthly per student
- Collaborate with special education staff and participate in programming for students with social/emotional challenges
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by school and state guidelines
- Participate in ongoing professional development and support compliance with program goals
