High School School Speech Therapist | Chicago Heights, Illinois
A part-time opportunity for a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is available in Chicago Heights, IL, focused on providing specialized support within a school environment. This contract role requires presence three days per week, working with students ranging in age from 2 to 22 years who have moderate to severe disabilities.
Key responsibilities include contributing to the planning and delivery of comprehensive speech-language therapy that addresses assistive technology, augmentative communication, social language skills, articulation, voice, oral-motor function, feeding, and delays in receptive and expressive language development. The role involves performing diagnostic and evaluation testing, delivering detailed reports based on assessments and observations, developing and maintaining Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives, and collaborating effectively with parents and peers to support student progress.
Qualifications:
- Must hold or be qualified to hold an Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) license and a Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Preferably 1 to 2 years of experience as an SLP, particularly in school settings
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Flexibility and strong problem-solving abilities to adapt to varying student needs
