School-Based SLP | Independence, Missouri
This position offers an opportunity to support elementary school students as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a dedicated educational setting. The role is a contract position for the current school year (CSY), located in Independence, MO. The assignment is immediate due to an unexpected leave, with an uncertain return date that could range from a month to the remainder of the school year.
Responsibilities include providing speech and language therapy services to a caseload of approximately 50 students. You will work collaboratively with a part-time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) who will assist in managing the workload. Staff hours are scheduled from 7:45 AM to 3:35 PM, aligning with typical school hours and allowing you to engage with students and educators effectively.
Ideal candidates will have experience as an SLP in a school setting, with a strong understanding of speech-language development and therapy techniques tailored to elementary-aged children. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to the temporary nature of the assignment are important.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification/licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Previous experience working in elementary schools or with similar caseloads
- Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 50 students efficiently
- Experience collaborating with support staff, such as SLP Assistants
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Adaptability to an uncertain assignment duration
