Job Summary:
As an SLPA, you will support the work of licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by implementing treatment plans, providing direct therapy services to students, and assisting with assessments. Your role will be essential in helping students improve their communication skills and succeed in their educational endeavors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field.
- Completion of an SLPA training program or equivalent coursework.
- Current state certification or licensure as an SLPA (or eligibility for certification).
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting, is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and families.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing individual and group therapy sessions as directed by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Help with the preparation of materials and resources for therapy activities.
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records as required.
- Conduct screenings and assist in the assessment process under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate communication goals into the classroom.
- Educate and support families with strategies to reinforce communication skills at home.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
