School Speech Language Pathologist - Decatur, Alabama
A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) opportunity is available in an elementary school setting serving preK through 8th grade students. This position starts ASAP or at the beginning of the January semester and runs through May 22, 2026. The role is an onsite contract with a consistent schedule designed around student sessions and assessment planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide speech and language therapy services to a caseload of approximately 58 students, with about 9 at the primary level
- Collaborate with a fellow SLP to manage caseload distribution as needed, allowing flexibility in scheduling
- Conduct assessments and contribute to individualized education plans (IEPs) with a focus on case management
- Utilize virtual and in-person therapy approaches to accommodate student needs
- Coordinate with paraprofessional staff who assist with student transitions to therapy sessions
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Speech-Language Pathologist license in Alabama is required
- Experience working within school settings, particularly with preK-8 grade students
- Proven ability to manage IEPs and use of case management software such as PowerSchool is preferred
- Familiarity with Alabama special education laws and regulations is advantageous
- Experience in providing both virtual and onsite speech therapy
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with school staff
Work Schedule and Location:
- Monday through Thursday dedicated to direct therapy sessions
- Fridays reserved for assessments and administrative tasks
- School day begins at 7:45 am CST
- Located in Huntsville, AL, serving one school within the district
