Speech Language Pathologist School-Based (K-12)
What You Should Know:
- Hours: Around 20 hours each week.
- Schedule: We're looking for coverage Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. We'll finalize your specific part-time days during the interview.
- Start Date: June 1, 2025.
- Caseload: You'll be working with a focused group of students aged 5 to 22, all of whom are on the Autism Spectrum. This is your chance to truly specialize and have a lasting impact!
Your Role in Their Success:
You'll be crucial in helping these students flourish, focusing on boosting their communication skills and participation in daily life. This often includes:
- Providing direct speech and language therapy, whether one-on-one or in small groups.
- Targeting vital skills like functional communication, social interactions, and helping them use what they learn in various settings.
- Working with and implementing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
- Partnering closely with teachers, parents, and other staff to integrate communication goals throughout the day.
- Tracking student progress, collecting data, and fine-tuning your therapy approaches to meet each student's evolving needs.
- Keeping thorough and timely records.
Who We're Looking For:
- You must have a valid Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology license – this is non-negotiable!
- A Master's or doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- ASHA CCC-SLP certification is required.
- Proven experience and a strong comfort level working with individuals (ages 5-22) who have Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Expertise in assessing and implementing various communication strategies, including AAC.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Strong organizational abilities to effectively manage your caseload.
- A compassionate, patient, and genuine commitment to empowering students with ASD.
