Mental Health Specialist

Location: Lapeer, MI

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Specialist to support students through social-emotional and behavioral services in a school-based setting. This role focuses on providing direct support to general education students and assisting school staff with building-wide initiatives as needed.

Position Overview

• Provide individual and group social-emotional support to general education students

• Support classrooms and school buildings as needed (e.g., professional learning, implementation of positive behavior programs)

• Collaborate with school staff to promote student well-being and positive learning environments

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

• Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist

• Limited Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist (under supervision)

• MDE-Credentialed Master’s Level School Psychologist

• Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW)

• Licensed Master’s Level School Social Worker

• Limited Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker (under supervision of an LMSW)

• Licensed Bachelor’s Level Social Worker (LBSW)

  • Must be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a Master’s program (LLMSW or LMSW) within 24 months of hire

• Licensed Master’s Level Marriage and Family Therapist

• Licensed Master’s Level Professional Counselor (LPC)

• Limited Licensed Master’s Level Professional Counselor (under supervision)

Also accepted with additional requirements:

• School Counselor License (SCL)

• Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor (NT) endorsement

• Preliminary School Counselor Credential (PSCC)

• Temporary School Counselor License (TSCL)

  • Must apply to LARA and meet requirements to obtain LLPC or LPC within 24 months of hire

Additional Notes

• NO SW 310 required

• *All candidates must have or be enrolled in a Master ’s-level program
