Mental Health Specialist – Full-Time | Lapeer, MI | 2025–2026 School Year

A fantastic school district located in Lapeer, MI is seeking a full-time Mental Health Specialist to join the team. In this role, you will provide essential support and services to students, helping to foster academic achievement and personal growth. You will collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student receives the appropriate care and instruction.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support and mental health services to students based on individual needs and IEP goals

• Collaborate with teachers, families, and school staff to support student social-emotional development

• Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans or educational accommodations as needed

• Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with school and state guidelines

• Participate in meetings, including IEP and team meetings, providing insight into student needs and progress

• Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field

• Valid Michigan licensure or certification, such as LMSW, LPC, or equivalent, required

• Experience working with school-aged children or in school-based mental health settings preferred

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

• Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral and social-emotional support methodologies
