Position Overview:
The Autism Support Interventionist provides direct, hands-on support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in both specialized and inclusive educational settings. This is a behavior-focused role requiring close collaboration with teachers, therapists, and special education staff to help students meet academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students with autism

Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the supervision of the classroom teacher or behavior specialist

Collect data on behavior, IEP goal progress, and intervention effectiveness
-
Assist students with daily routines, classroom transitions, and sensory regulation

Use evidence-based strategies such as:

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
-
Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
-
Visual schedules and social stories
-

Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment

Collaborate with educational and therapy teams for consistent intervention and communication

Support students with personal care needs when required (e.g., toileting, hygiene, feeding)
Required Credentials / Non-Negotiables:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, ABA, Social Behavior, or a related field preferred
-
Associate’s degree considered with minimum 1 year (3+ years preferred) experience supporting students with autism or behavioral challenges
-
Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and behavioral intervention techniques
-
Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to behavioral incidents (e.g., elopement, aggression)

Basic computer skills for documentation and communication

Reliability, teamwork, and professional boundaries are essential
