Position Overview: We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to join our team in Chicago, IL. As a School Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students. This is a contract position, offering the opportunity to work with a diverse student population and collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct services to students, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and social-emotional skill development.
- Conduct assessments and screenings to identify students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other school staff to develop and implement intervention plans to support students' success in school.
- Advocate for students and families to access community resources and support services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Provide consultation and training to teachers and staff on topics related to social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and behavior management.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with School Social Worker Endorsement.
- Previous experience working as a School Social Worker in a school or educational setting preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based counseling techniques and interventions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to providing culturally responsive services and supporting the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
