Come experience the great state of Washington during your next SLP job. Home of the quintessential coffee shop Starbucks, Seattle is at the heart of all things hopping. Buzzing cafes, hip clubs, cool art exhibits, clamoring casinos, outdoor cinemas, beautiful beaches and thrift shops galore – that sums up Seattle. Who has time to notice the weather? Seattle actually receives less rainfall than New York City, and who complains about the weather there? Speaking of rain, who knew there was a rainforest in this state? The Hoh Rainforest features sky-high moss-draped trees with some trees reaching as tall as 300 feet. This old-growth rainforest receives up to 14 feet of rain a year (compared with a mere 34 inches a year in Seattle.)
Washington has some other natural phenomena as well: the San Juan archipelago includes more than 700 islands, of which a mere 172 of them are named. While there, check out Friday Harbor, the largest town in the cluster of islands. Visit Lime Kiln Point State Park, the only park in the US dedicated to whale watching. The longest drivable beach in the US is aptly named Long Beach. The state is also home to Mount St. Helens where the decimated landscape is only now beginning to recover. Don’t miss the glaciers – Washington has the most in the 48 contiguous states. And for another type of behemoth – Microsoft Corporation is located in Redmond, and its founder Bill Gates, the wealthiest man in the US, lives in Medina. With everything to see and do in Washington, you’ll need to extend your SLP job in order to experience it all.
