Speech Pathologist Assistant in San Francisco, CA
A Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) position is available to provide essential in-person support to K-12 students in a California school setting, while working under the remote supervision of a licensed virtual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This contract role focuses on delivering high-quality speech and language services that foster communication development within the school environment throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech and language therapy as outlined by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) under remote SLP supervision
- Collect and document accurate progress data during therapy sessions to support ongoing treatment planning
- Prepare and organize therapy materials and activities aligned with student needs
- Coordinate session scheduling and setup, facilitating communication between school staff and the virtual supervising SLP
- Observe and report on student behavior and performance for effective planning and documentation by the SLP
- Adhere strictly to California laws, professional standards, and district policies regulating SLPA scope of practice
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all student interactions
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
- Valid SLPA license issued by the California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board
- Previous experience in a school environment is preferred; recent graduates with relevant training are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Proficient using technology to collaborate and communicate effectively with a remote supervisor
