Provide specialized speech-language support to elementary students in a dynamic public school environment focusing on PreK through 3rd grade. This role involves working predominantly with a high-needs student population, many of whom are nonverbal, emphasizing functional behavior and communication to promote student growth and independence.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech-language pathology services tailored to individual student needs, supporting communication development and functional behavior.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to implement effective communication strategies within the classroom setting.
- Manage caseload efficiently within one building, providing direct therapy sessions as well as indirect support activities.
- Document progress and participate in IEP meetings, contributing professional expertise to team discussions.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities provided by the district.
- Participate in paid team meetings and administrative activities as part of the contracted agreement.
Qualifications:
- Appropriate State licensure and certification to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly with nonverbal or high-needs students.
- Familiarity with caseload management and IEP documentation.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Ability to work itinerantly within the assigned building.
- Bilingual skills are highly desirable to support diverse student needs.
Location & Schedule:
- Position based in Newark, NJ, within an elementary school.
- Contract duration from ASAP to June 26th.
- 35 hours per week, typically aligned with the academic calendar.
