School Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) | Metairie, Louisiana
A K-12 school in Metairie, LA is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their team on a contract basis for the current school year. This role will primarily support students from PreK through 8th grade, managing a caseload of approximately 50-60 students. The position is onsite and welcomes both certified SLPs and Clinical Fellows (CF).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language assessments and develop individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Provide targeted speech and language therapy services to students ranging from PreK to 8th grade
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student progress
- Maintain accurate records of student evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress reports
- Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with district and state regulations and policies related to speech-language services
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or eligibility as a Clinical Fellow (CF)
- Experience working in a school setting, preferably with K-8 students
- Strong knowledge of speech and language development, assessment tools, and intervention strategies
- Ability to manage a substantial caseload effectively and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, families, and educators
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics in all interactions
Location: Metairie, LA
Contract Duration: Current school year through 5/21/2026
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Work Setting: Onsite only
