School Speech Therapist | Edison, New Jersey
Provide specialized speech-language therapy services to elementary students in a single building within a high-needs district serving predominantly nonverbal children. This contract role focuses on fostering functional communication and behavior to promote student growth and independence for PreK through 3rd grade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect speech-language pathology services tailored to students’ individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Support a caseload comprised primarily of nonverbal students requiring functional communication interventions.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to integrate therapy goals into classroom activities.
- Document student progress and maintain compliance with district protocols.
- Participate in paid team meetings and utilize designated therapy spaces.
- Engage in ongoing training related to district-specific systems and student needs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Speech-Language Pathology credential, with experience in school-based settings.
- Proven ability to work with diverse student populations, including those with complex communication needs.
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to provide services in accordance with district guidelines and participate in remote interviews via Zoom.
Location: Edison, NJ (single elementary school building assignment)
Duration: Contract position starting as soon as possible through June 26th
Work Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week
