Speech Therapist in Chicago Heights, IL
A Special Education Co-op position is available for an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to work in an elementary school setting serving students in grades K-8. This in-person role focuses on supporting students with social and emotional disabilities, providing targeted speech therapy interventions to help them thrive academically and socially.
Location: Chicago Heights, IL
Duration: August 18, 2025 – June 2, 2026 (Contract)
Schedule: 35 hours/week, Monday through Friday
Student Population: K-8 students who are fully verbal and independent
Caseload: Approximately 30 students
Therapy Time: Typically 120 minutes per month, with 30-minute sessions weekly as indicated on IEPs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver speech-language therapy services tailored to individual IEP goals for students with social/emotional disabilities
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans focused on improving communication skills
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure consistent support
- Maintain compliance with all state and district policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist license
- Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Speech-Language Pathology Certification of Clinical Competence (SLP - CCC) preferred
- Experience working with K-8 students, especially within special education programs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in an in-person school environment
