Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Chicago, IL
A full-semester contract position is available for an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide specialized support in an elementary school setting in Chicago, IL. This role involves working in-person with students aged 6th grade through 22 years who have multiple disabilities, some nonverbal and others using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
Responsibilities include delivering speech-language pathology services tailored to individual student needs within a special education co-op program. The caseload averages approximately 70 students, with an expectation of around 120 minutes of direct service per month per student. Collaboration with educators, therapists, and families is essential to fostering effective communication strategies and maximizing student progress.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist license
- Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred
- Experience working with children and young adults with multiple disabilities
- Familiarity with AAC devices and nonverbal communication techniques
- Ability to work 35 hours per week, in-person only, for the duration of the contract
